If I may draw your attention, please, to Rebuilding Greensburg Block by Block, a charity knitting endevor to benefit the residents of the little Kansas town of Greensburg, which was virtually wiped off the map last week in a tornado of massive proportions.
The municipality was a customer of ours (I don't talk about work much on this blog, but it always gave me a bit of a grin to see their check come in every month with that odd little logo up in the address block: "Home of the world's largest hand dug well" - yes, really!). We have crews out shutting off gas meters and helping with construction equiptment, but there's not a lot I can do as a private individual. (Red Cross money is already given and support of various area pledge and matching grant drives are in progress.) I'm supporting as many as those as I can.

Karla. Karla. Thank you so much for this post. I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only one that feels just a little helpless and "this" is what I can do. And look at you heading there for the SBA loans too! Have a safe trip and I hope you find lots of hopeful people there who maybe need an afghan? We're prolly gonna have a lot of squares! :)
Actually, the office in Pittsburg is doing our part of the loan stuff. I'm in the Topeka division - but I've put my name down as willing to go if I'm needed. I don't have kids at home, so I hope I'm on the 'short list' if they need more people.
